Dbx 160 vu distortion all the time

Hello, I have a dbx 160 vu that distorts whenever you have something running through it. The threshold , compression ration, and output knobs have no effect on anything. I can turn the output to zero and still hear the signal so loud and distorted. Please help this is annoying me badly

Check the input/output connections just to make sure they're still intact. If that's not it, time to have someone take a look inside to see what failed.
