Reel deep thoughts...
Just FYI and completely IMHO, but I opened up one of my dbx 150X n/r units tonight to catalog the electrolytic caps and AFAIC these are high-quaility units...nice glass fiber PCB's, 5532 and 5534 opamps throughout (which AFAIK were top-notch for the day and still considered a good opamp...more desirable than its very common contemporary the 072), a good number of polystyrene caps, oversize pots for the level trimmers...the power transformer is a nice lookin' torroidal unit too. Anyway, they honestly don't look like much on the outside, but the beauty is more than skin-deep. Standard corners to cut were not executed here. My one criticism is that the +/- 15V regulators could have better heat dissipation.

I can post pics of a blown 228 unit.:D I bought it without being able to test it. Wouldn't work once I got it home. Opened it up and it looked like it had been hit by lightning. Talk about carnage!:D
