Western Digital 160gb 8mb $100.00
Western Digital 120gb 8mb $ 80.00

My wife's new machine could clean that one's clock, running with an AMD 2200+. It'd also run you $60 cheaper.

You're also paying about $30 too much for XP Pro.

I'd go with a 2200+ and the A7N8X for M Audio.

"since when were 17" non lugged cases rack mountable in a 19" rack?"

Ok, do you have anything in a 19" rack?
Take out your ruler, and measure it... ;)

Wow..
If I only had some imagination, and rack ears to fit this...
What do ya know found some, lucky me :D

Well, I took the option most recommended by M-Audio.

Where did you find XP Pro $30 cheaper?
I bought full retail XP PRO, not OEM..

every piece of Pro audio rack gear you can imagine is 19" rack mountable. Let me see...... <looks at rack> Delta1010, autocom, mpx 100, gates, focusrite platinum....er....all 19"

That's a consumer case like all 17" hifi seperates. It's built to look good but nothing else. You might wanna fit a quiet psu and a quiet intake fan to that fancy lookin box. The 2 exaust fans on the back only push the hot air out. Where's your quiet cooler intake?

Alec.

P.S. It'll have zero effect on your music making capabilities...it's just a box

I should probably mention that all the professional PC rack systems in studios have all the ports on the back of the case.

You want it to look neat, right? :)

$240 no frills but a great case from RED SUB

I rest your case ;)

Like I said, get out your ruler...hehe :D

Well, the rack case is not a bid deal... I guess the only person that should be concerned about their rack is a woman :p

BTW, home audio (dvd, tape decks, vcr) and pro audio (rack equipment) are all about the same width minus the rack ears of pro audio.. Come to Los Angeles and see the highend homes with there rackmounted home audio equipment.

"it's your cash fucknuts, spend it as you please"

Wow, guess this post has taken a turn for the worst..

I was just hoping for some more suggestions, no hard feelins..

"that case weighs 16lbs empty. HAHAHAHA"

Yeah, Its built strong... Never heard of a rackmount comp case weighing much less.

ok, why dont you tell me my best options.

Also, tell me where I went wrong on the set up I have now

Thanks in advance

ok, it's not a rack mountable case. Sure go ahead and drill some holes in it to fit the lugs. The firewire and usb ports are on the front. it weighs in at 16lbs. It's overpriced. it has no intake fan. I could go on.

"Do you know what chipset is used on that Asus P4T-E?

Intel 850

That chipset is getting fairly long in the tooth now. I'd recommend spending another $40 or so and getting an AsusP4P800 MB which sports the i865 chipset, 800MHz fsb and DDR ram.

If cash is a problem, you could forego one of the HDs in the meantime, and add it later on
