hey guys

So, If I decide to pick up a presonus firepod - i'll be stuck using those preamps if I choose to use that interface? I started thinking about that...and do any of you know what those presonus preamps are comparable to? mackie? rnp? behringer? (i hope not)

Would I have better upgradability options if I bought a firewire interface that didn't have self contained mic pre's? I'm trying not to be a gear pig and get caught up in details..but I want to make things happen still and have a decent setup. $1000, is my allotted budget for an interface.

how many mics do you want to record at once to seperate pc tracks. ??
also do you have a powerfull enough pc to record lots of concurrent tracks.??

Those presonus preamps are supposed to be pretty good. Definitely better than the berris.

There are other units worth considering also like the Tascam 1884, which provide an 8 channel firewire inteface, preamps and a control surface

8ins should be all I need. I recorded my entire first album on a delta 44...I NEED to throw more mics on the drums though. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2600 with 512 RAM and two seagate 80 gig 7200 rpm drives. Hey bulls Hit...whats the list price on that tascam interface? It might be bad to be limited to just the presonus preamps...

thanks guys
