Apologies if this is a dumb question but I'm setting up a new home studio and trying to work out the best interface box. Since both my midi controllers have USB midi I assume I can plug these directly into the PC USB ports and therefore don't need midi in the interface box (?). I'm tossing up between the MBox Pro 3 (with MIDI) and the Steinberg MR816X (without midi). I need 2 mics in (acoustic guitar) and 2 lines in (in case I take a stereo audio feed from one of my keyboards) and want 3 pairs of speakers connected for monitoring. Are the units I'm considering overkill - i.e. can I scale down without losing sound quality, particularly on the mic inputs?
