I have decided to build my own computer DAW or have one built. Could anyone give me a list of inexpensive but good components of a new computer (mobo, processor, hard drive, power supply, case, etc.). I have already decided on the M-audio Delta 44 soundcard (unless someone knows one that is just as good for less money). Or if you know of any good sites?

hi,

There have been a zillion threads about this subject. Do a search for "DAW AND build" and it will give you a lot of information.

No offence, but this question is so basic that I personally think you should do some homework first.

But okay... I'll give away something. Cheap yet good? 300 Watts PSU, AMD cpu, ECS motherboard.

Yep. Do a little work up front and come back with some more specific questions and you'll probably get lots of help. Not trying to be a jerk, but this topic has been covered lots and your answers are already out there. You just need to look.

Sorry guys, didn't want to sound totally stupid, just didn't think about looking in the other topics? We all have to start somewhere.

See it like this: We just put you on the right track :)

:D

Hope you aren't offended dude, none was intended. I got the same advice when I first got here, and it is still good advice. A question here might get you a few or even a dozen responses. But using the "search" button you can probably read hundreds of answers to your questions, at least the basic ones, from people a lot more informed than schmucks like me and christiaan

;)

My general advice:
1) pick the card you want
2) pick your mobo based on what works best with YOUR card
3) then think about everything else

Wasn't offended at all. Did the search and am finding out a lot. I appreciate it!

Lol, sorry for not having english as my native language but what's a schmuck? should I be offended now? :)

I'd look at getting the omni studio if i were you. At a bit extra but you get a headphone preamp for two headphones and the preamps and a couple of other featurs, unless ofcouse you alread have this. Exactly what do u have/need and what's your budget?

It is a pretty insulting term.

But I meant it in the best possible way

;) :D

lol, well ok. good to see that you called yourself a schmuck as well :)

but seriously. I honestly think I know more about computers than most people on the board.

Coldash,
I already have all the pa equipment and just want to buy or build a new computer to use as a DAW. I don't need anything with preamps that's why I was thinking about the Delta 44. I will be recording 3 vocals and pre-recorded soundtracks. As for budget, I just wanted to get something that would work well but that is not too expensive. My budget right now is around $800 (not counting soundcard price, it is paid for), but I still have until Sept. to get a recording out.
