h
who did he sign with...

That THUG HOLIDAY song went platinum if i'm not mistaken...

MISSISSIPI THE ALBUM is probably gonna go platinum from the way things appearing...

Haha.... Now southern music hating cats are gonna really be bitching... Just from the cd title alone... HAHAHAha......... DAVID BANNER my nigga. :D

yeah it did...but i dont think he have the fan base to go...his beats are hott but alot of peeps dont know who he is yet...but i hope he does

cool link

man, that is a lot of doe. it's good that we are getting another producer to rep the south, now we need to get some dj's to recognized like clue, green lantern, k slay, etc.. etc.. i love a lot of up north stuff, i just wish that the south can one day be thought of as equals. it was that damn confederate war that messed it up for us.

jugalo,

how many cats you know who bump mad shit from the south and wreck the 'tables? I'd tend to think that's the problemo...

Not that Clue and Kslay cut shit the fuck up, but other cats and most bedroom jocks do from uptop...

Maybe it's my motor city sensibilitiesties, but when i'm rocking a dirty-dirty set, i just don't find hella room to get live - most of the time the tempo is too slow for me to get shit cackin. Not that i don't try to get ill, but at80-90 bpm that's a whole lotta time for a cat to spit a verse sing a hook or whatever - back-to-backs and juggling ain't so dope to me cuz the tempo s too low for it to be a challenge, though i do love breaking shit down and doing really rhythmic cuts...

I don't give a fuk about EXCLUSIVES and shit - let whoever run 10 billion exclusive joints and i'll rock 30 ill joints with this nukka Dolo on the wheels and trust me, the party belongs to him...

Screw did some interesting shit, sometimes strange, but fuck it, it made for phat listening and a phat party. If I wanna just hear new, "EXCLUSIVE" joints, I'd expect those cats to NOT put "DJ" by their names.

Maybe I should work on some shit and see how you native cats dig how I gets down. Hmmm...

Turntablism and shit at 88bpm. A challenge - for me at least - for sure. All shit for down under (no, not australia). Have you heard any cats running regional shit for 60-90 minutes and fucking shit up on the tables?

What the hell do I know, prolly just this yak i'm sippin' on...

diendolo

you got dj jelly from atl puttin it down for the south...he is starting to get know up north and around....but he do need more///

flo

that made a lot of sense, damn i didn't think about the bpm's. yo, when i get some shyyt mastered and if you aprove of it, will you be willing to give it some spins when you do a show?

yeah it did...but i dont think he have the fan base to go...his beats are hott but alot of peeps dont know who he is yet...but i hope he does

If he doesn't go PLATINIUM with this one it'll be the next for sure... Ya know 10 million also goes a long way when building a fan base...

WWW.CROOKEDLETTAZ.COM <---Any feel free to become a fan here...

I was thinking earlier this week about when his boy KAMIKAZEE (other member of the CROOKED LETTAZ) solo cd dropped we where hanging out at this little freestyle spot... Just a bunch of local rap cats mainly... Bunch of those cats in the JACKSON issue of MURDER DOG there... They did a few songs off KAZEE's joint and another song or 2... Banner got up and said "By this time next year I willbe worth a million dollars". That shit was just over a year ago by a few months.... No bullshitin ... And for the extra 9 million you gotta give a cat a couple months for that...:D

I can tell ya'll a few more stories about dude getting up on club speaker and running around with his clothes falling off... Dude blows fire out his mouth and shit but not on some carnaval type shit... Just a wild ass nigga... Fact is dude keep going at that pace he'll be one of the biggest names in the business by this time next year... Why you think FLIP, TRICK, TROY, FEIND and 10 million got his back...

But don't listen to me... I'm just hypin him up cuz he's repping my spot of the world...;) ;)

MISSISSIPPI MUD LOVING S.O.B SELF...

2 million 5 albums... Wonder what the options look like.

:: DAVID BANNER....THE 10 MILLION DOLLAR MAN
Platinum producer David Banner (Trick Daddy, Pastor Troy, Snoop Dogg, Lil Flip, etc) is one of the rare few producers in urban music who can also rap. Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, David Banner has built an incredible name for himself throughout the South with both radio play and retail sales for the past 3 years. In the past 2 months, his song featuring Lil Flip, Like A Pimp, has been blowing up the airwaves in the South to reach an unprecedented 500 BDS radio spins coming from just a handful of stations.

Although this comes as no surprise to fans from Atlanta, Jackson, Birmingham, Dallas, or Baton Rouge where Banner has been hot on the streets for years, the industry is now just catching on to the incredible phenomenon known as David Banner. This week, Banner inked an incredible label deal with Steve Rifkind Company and Universal Records Group for his southern flavored record label, b.i.G. f.a.c.e. Entertainment. Banner is known for his smooth southern grooves, his rock influenced beats, for breathing fire during his live shows, and for selling a huge amount of underground CDs throughout the South and Midwest. It is no surprise to many of us that the labels finally caught on and want to own a piece of his franchise!

With a bidding war that included almost every label that matters, this deal negotiated by power deal-maker Wendy Day, quickly reached the $2 million range per release for 5 releases. Banner finally chose SRC because "Rifkind has an incredible track record and is a marketing genius. SRC is partners with Mosaic (managers of Jim Carrey, Daymon Wayans, and owners of Dick Clark Productions, etc) that will give me access to film, television, endorsements, and sponsorships. Why wouldn't I want to be partners with that since that is the wave of the future for artists?" SRC partnered with Mosaic late last year; according to Steve Rifkind "the deal was done with Mosaic because we know how important branding is in the new universe of the music business. You need to partner up and co-brand these days to get things done."

Steve Rifkind is thrilled to be partnered with David Banner and says, "he truly has a vision from A to Z-- a whole complete package. Plus, he is a great businessman and one of the most talented people that I have ever met-- and I have met alot of talented people. I am really looking foward to working with David Banner and his whole team." Rifkind is the former owner of Loud Records which created such international power houses as: Wu Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Big Pun, Three 6 Mafia, and others. In 2002, Rifkind left his deal with Sony when things at that major began to sour. With the transitions that have taken place at Sony of late, Rifkind's vision appears to be even more prophetic than most in the industry already felt.

Steve Rifkind Company started the street team concept, and even own the trademark on the words "street team." Happy to be with new partners Universal Music Group on the label side and Mosaic on the marketing and film side, Steve is free to spread his wings and soar again. David Banner will be SRC's first release on April 8. Banner has assembled a team of pure talent and heavyweights in the music business to steer his career forward.

Wendy Day who negotiated this stellar deal added, "I had no idea that all of Banner's hard work would pay off THIS well for him. I attribute it to his incredible production, his ear, his willingness to listen and work hard, and giving the fans what they want. He has worked very hard to get to this point, and I am VERY proud of how he's run his Big Face label and what he has accomplished."

Day has played a big part in many of the best deals in the urban music business such as No Limit, Cash Money, Eminem, and others. It is no surprise that her deals have gone on to set precedent and have helped to create hugely successful artists. "I have not been this excited about a project since Eminem or Cash Money, and I am so happy to see the major labels are back to bidding on multi-million dollar deals. This, along with 50 Cent's recent sales, is a positive sign for the economy of the music business" adds a jubilant Wendy Day.

yo

i just picked up the murder dog mag. there is in article on him in there. i'll read it tomorrow.

Yo... I just came back from the BOO THE BOSS PLAYER's album release party... That's one of the cats on the front of that MURDER DOG... Been getting at his ass on some work but shit ain't panned out yet... 1 LIFE 1 LOVE RECORDS is dudes label... They went with PRIORITY last year sometime and I think this is the first joint since that deal… Navies with dude’s pics on the sides and all for about a year now…

Girls all over the place at this event… This club has been impressive on the female side…

Not much show going on though… Disappointing cuz I thought my artist would get to perform his single early… Shit wasn’t ready anyway though…

All those cats on that MURDER DOG cover was there... JACKSON rap cats... Thick local rap cat scene...

I'm trying to go into details cuz I got the wrong perspectives on this game to spit too freely... Behind this liquor and all to especially... Just saying this shits a funny, dirty, sideways game… I just know this shit eats at some cat’s hearts in a bad way... Some cats it doesn’t bother enough... Some just playing the game and trying to see what pans out...Shits a mess to watch and a bitch to be involved in. I think I love her though.;)

I can say this though... JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI is about to be a major force in this rap game. Unless I’m crazy out my mind… <---don’t think so... Maybe it's denial :D.

got somethin cookin

ok, flo-dolo, and lazi, i'm workin on this song and i wanted to let yall check it out. if yall like it, i want yall to push it in the clubs. i'm from new orleans, and my brother moved to gulfport with my mother a few years back and i know that the two states share some of the same flavor. holla back. the track is called "i aint a killer"

If it's jammin I might can put it in a few nice hands but honestly I can't promise shit cause i'm running full speed on E right now. Almost literally on E...

Also ya know how DJ cats good to run scared from anything that isn't tried and true shit... I remember seeing a room grind to a halt when a DJ cat played that JUVY HA for the first time in small town mississippi... Sheep like a muh so I can't blame a DJ... 2 weeks later the shit is running back to back... No telling how much hot shit didn't get play cuz it didn't get play because it didn't get play...

It's all love though...

Just get at me when you got that...

ok

cool, thanks for showing some interest lazi. btw, i peeped the banner article out in the xxl. it's good to see him get where he's at because he earned it. it's good that he got a deal that puffy got in 96, but puffy can't get that same deal anymore. this dude is sittin on the best contract for 2003 right now.

Reckon he'll hit UK?
