Hey hey!
I was just wondering if any of you out there have any idea how Carter Beauford of DMB get's his drum sound? How do you think they place mics? what types of mics? compression and effects and such. I am very very curious on how they get that sound, and that mean in your face snare sound!

I think I read and article that said he uses the shure mini condensor tom mics (beta98s i think) And if im not mistaken he plays Pearl drums, dunno what snare he uses though.

Carter kicks ass!!!!!

Drumdummie is right. Here's his kit http://www.geocities.com:0080/SunsetStrip/Venue/9123/carterbeauford/drumset.html No mic's on there though. I his live mic's used to be listed on the official DMB site but not anymore. As for what he uses in the studio, that's probably gonna be hard to come by. I'd say the best chance would be watching either his video "Under the Table and Drumming" or that video "Making Music" he did with Victor Wooten and trying to indentify them that way.

I have to get that "under the table..." I haven't even seen it yet. :( I also want to see "Liquid Drum Theatre" with Mike Portnoy...

Ohyahhh, thanks for the info guys! I just saw DMB in concert and let me tell you, nothing I have ever experienced in my life has been sweeter! WOW carter sounded amazing you could tell he's prefected his style, his kit, his technique...haha everything!! The rest of the band just plain out kicked asss! and he was using his monster Yamaha Kit!!

i know he has his own signature pearl snare (it sounds awesome). and i think maybe pearl drums, but i don't know. definetly zildjian cymbals
