Okay, so my hard drive just crashed However, I'm sure I'm not the only poor bastard out here who's been nailed with this dilema... Have any of you ever tried a data recovery service (or software) to get your files back? If so, any suggestions on a reasonably priced solution? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I tried a place a few months back. The gist of it was that, if the hardware on the drive isn't too fried and it's a corrupt file system, it might have been possible for them to get all the data off for somewhere on the order of $200. However, if the drive's failed badly enough, they have to take it apart in a cleanroom and mount the platters into another hardware harness, and I was quoted a minimum of about $1000-1200.
