I have an Ensoniq ASR-10 synth workstation and want to be able to record (analog) to DAT (sony D8 portable). Could I just plug the left and right outputs of the keyboard straight into the DAT recorder, adjust the rec. level and get a decent sound or is that to easy. Right now i am pluggin straight into the auxilary inputs of my portable tape player and the recording is... well... you know...

Any info would be very helpfull... Thanx

Why not save a few hundred bucks and get a Sony Minidisc recorder. I believe the sound quality is just as good. And the editing capabillities are fantastic!

I use my minidisc to record live, and I edit start and stop times to cut out crowd noise,and countoffs. I can combine, delete, move paste etc. Instant locate to any song...It blows away tape of any kind..

Sincerely;

Dom Franco

The quality would be the same if the minidisk recorder doesn't compress the files in order to save space.

I memory serves, I think the ASR10 has a spdif digital out. If the D8 takes that format, that may be an even better scenario.
