Until something a lot better comes along I'll continue to record Live/stereo on DAT.
The MD is really good but it is compressed. I've not used a stand alone CD recorder, it may be a good alternative. Taking a computer out seems too cumbersome, not to mention the trillion things that can go wrong without notice.
Just my opinion, YMMV

I don't think a CD burner would work very well in a live recording session. Usually you take a mix and run it from stereo tracks into a stand-a-lone CD burner.

I've not worked with a DAT but that's the way I'd go for plain working conditions and lugging junk around.

I did, however, hear a cassette made from DAT and the sound was very good.

Maybe a small not too expensive DAW with digital and HDrive would do a good job. I think someone with outside recording expertise ought to drop a line to this thread.

:D :D :p :p

I've used a Tascam CD-RW4U on a number of live gigs now instead of my DP-1, and have had no problems. Click here for a sample:

PS: the CD-RW4U is about one quarter the price of the DP-1

Well I did it

The CD I was thinking of was trashed so do to your overwelming response I got the TASCAM DAT.

It's Tinker to Evens to Chance

Go Cubs

YO T-Chance:

Wrigley Field is a wonderful ball park. I grew up there.

I think you will enjoy the DAT. I've done some work for a close friend who sent me some DAT tapes to work with. The tapes were very good. Clear bright sound. But, it all depends on what you need to do.

I don't have a DAT but even with a studio full of boxes, I'm thinking about getting one just for the hell of it.

id choose DAT. simply because of it's wide acceptance. I give the DAT to the band, and they sort out transfers fromthere (unless everything is being done with my studio).

sometimes i will take a mackie 2496 and a couple of compressors and multitrack the whole gig, bring it back to the studio, and mix. but only if they pay!!

The good news about the Cubs is that they scored 7 runs the other day!

The bad news is that the White Sox scored 22 runs and whupped their asses! :D

Sox : 22
Cubs: 7

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD..... YES!

Yo Buck 62:

I heard the CUBS are going to call up E. Banks and Don Zimmer?

They just never seem to hit when men are on base. Well, it's early yet.

Arent the Cubs kicking it off(the season that is) in Cinci today? I wonder how that's going.

Maybe I'll turn off Trading Spaces and try and find the game...
