A tough one to pull off, this will be revised somewhat based on YOUR help :D It's tough to pull something like this off with M-audio/Mxl stuff in your house, it screams " get a REAL studio" :( I need advice on eq and mixing this monster.

This is program music. The story is something like this:

One night a year, the ghouls and skeletons awaken. The beginning symbolizes midnite with the twelve clock strokes. The DEVIL ( represented by the violin solo tuned in tri-tones ((in music theory this represents the devil)) ) presides over the festivities. The piece starts as a waltz, the ghouls and skeletons ( represented by the xylophone) dance. An eloborate fugue follows, and the dance grows more and more frenzied as the piece develops. Finally, the solo oboe represents the rooster: it is morning and the festival is over. The violin-devil plays a sad lament, and a brief hint of the dance ends it nostalgically.

This is a pretty involved tune, about 100 tracks on this sucker. Oh:

The scales ( representing wind) around 3:40? Lets just say that I spent my childhood in a practice room. Dont try this at home
Music by Camille Saint-Saens.

Not my stle of music, so I can't comment on the music other than to say it seemed very intricate and well played. Sounds like something you would hear as the score for a Tim Burton film - which is to say kind of dark - cool though.

Anyway, listening to it through studio monitors I didn't hear anything wrong with the recording quality. Sound quality seemed excellent to me...

Wow!!!!!! Wish I could be of some help, but man, this sounds awesome!!!! Very nice man. To me, you captured this well, and put it together with emphasis on the right dynamics, and sounds throughout. Playing this within the same group as other commercial recordings, it does not have anything that stands out and says it's not part of the store bought stuff.

The song is cool, and has many moods. They all seem to be portrayed well, and everthing seems to flow together very cohesively.

David, well done man. Very good sounding.

ha, i never knew that about the tri-tones...I always wondered. Great song man, I'm compelled to think this isn't home recording but a professional piece. Sounds great.

David, of all your arrangements I like this the most since it features your fiddle in one way or another most of the time. Nice playing.

Thanks for checkin it out fellers. I have come up with a few revisions already, and have more to come. The violin solo needs redone, it sounds like I am in a shoebox  I am using an MXl 990 and I cant seem to get the right sound with it. It sounds OK on Monitors but crappy on my headphones. Maybe I should put a disclaimer: Dont use headphones with this product. :D

This is an awesome piece of music and you have more than done it justice. Very well done. The violin solos do sound sort of boxy, but I don't think it is that bad. I'm anxious to hear it when you re-do them. Great work! :D

Absolutely bloody marvellous, I had all the guys at work listening to this one!

I love it DavidK, this is going to be played on my home stereo!

I am not even going to try and comment on the mix because it sounded great to me!

Nice work DavidK.

Thanx for sharing with us! :)

I had this problem once with the 990...it turns out that I had the mic facing the wrong way. Hopefully that is the same for you.

The mix is clear and I really enjoy listening to the background of this...I can see where all of the tracks are going. This must have been a huge job mixing...great work!

Another massive piece of work mixing this I'm sure. You've done an oustanding job. Lots of that great violin, which I have to admit is my favorite part of your work. That devil's violin is especially cool......

Wow, very nice!!!!

Never know what you are going to be listening here.
This was a very nice suprise!

I am not familiar with your work and so I thought I was going to be hearing another Boogie Dual rectumfrier screeming metal tune when I saw the title.

I'll have a listen to your other stuff now that you have stopped doing death metal tunes.
