For any of you near the Boston area, the Museum of Fine Arts has a guitar exhibition called 'Dangerous Curves'. I went to see it on Saturday and highly recommend it if you're interested in guitars and their history as an instrument. Lots of guitars covering ornate old ones from the 17th century and onwards to the present. Acoustics, electrics, slide guitars, even a couple of guitar synths. Some cool instruments on display. You get a free headset / audio tour along with the price of admission, with narration by James Taylor and sound clips of the guitars you're looking at. Near the end of the exhibit there's a big screen showing clips of a variety of guitar players.

yea I was thinking about this since I live about 20 minutes away. What deterred me were a few advertisements I read which implied it would consist mostly of pictures.

sounds like a decent way to spend a couple of hours. Was it very crowded on the weekend?

It's definitely NOT just pictures. The real guitars are there, behind glass.

It was busy (I went at 11am) but not unpleasantly so. I would say it's about the typical crowd one sees at a featured exhibit at a museum - I've seen the same size of crowds for exhibits on Impressionism.

As soon as you strap on those audio tour headphones, you're in a world of your own. It's great.
