A band wanted me to record them for a remix thing in LA, so all they really needed were the individual tracks, but they also asked for a rock mix for their own use. Curious on what your opinions on this are, as all I had to mix with were headphones and a less-than-stellar stereo system. Never really mixed this type of rock before either so this is mostly an experiment.

Typing as listening... the intro tone is nice. Vocals give me a modest mouse vibe. Also the crunchy clean guitar tone. Overall the mix is a tad thin to my ears though... I'd say definitely adjust some bass, either bring it up or fatten it or try some double tracking. Playing is pretty good and I like the groove throughout. Slow section and outro is pretty cool too. Good work, I could dance to this ;)

Yeah, bass frequencies are the major pitfall of mixing on headphones. Even with an analyzer running, I can't really tell where it is in the mix and it sounds a little bit too bassy as is. Guess I'll try a boost in the low-mid range and see what it does. Thanks for listening!

The bass really needs to be SLAMMED with a compressor, and possibly a boost in the lows. The vocals are definately of the current trend ;) i think they come in a tad loud.
The whole mix seems to be turned down, nothing goes over -5db. Maybe you just havent optimised the levels yet.
Overall i think the mix is very good :)

Actually I'm trying to get out of the "loudness wars" trend and trying to stay away from extreme compression. I agree that the bass should be compressed more, but the tracks are now sent to the band/producers. Oh well
