quite a few of us cant access myspace during the day. Try out lightningmp3.com ! =)

The guitars sound good. For some reason they sound processed to me. Maybe they just sound too good. I'm not a big fan of the vocals. They're a bit muddy in the mix. Kinda just sounds like talking. I think the bass gets a little boomy on some notes. DFH? Sounds cool. Overall, well done.:)

Thanks for your comments. I used a Washburn Nuno (yeah, I know) through a Marshall JCM 900 w/ a Randall 4x12 cab at a low volume so I wouldn't piss off any neighbors. I can't do much about the vocals, that's just how I sound:o The bass was recorded direct using an Ibanez SDGR. As for the drums, a buddy of mine came in and played my Pearl Forum set. The kick and snare have a sample added underneath to bring them out a bit, but the toms and overheads are real, just EQ'd to death. This is the first time I've recorded live drums, and I'm still learning how to record shit. Peace!!

Nice and crunchy tone on the guitars... The mix is a bit woofy/boomy, the 250-400Hz range is cluttered; you have things fighting for that space... Metal isn't my thing, so my comments may not be valid for the genre, but I think the voice needs to be "dirtier" to work completely, it needs to cut better, so a little snarl may help.... You got a reeasonable recording of the drums, but pay attention to the resonant frequency of the floor tom; it's right in the space where everything is fighting. You can use EQ to create spaces in the soundfield, cutting 60Hz on one instrument, boosting 80 on another, and so forth. It's a lot of trial and error. Cool tune!

The lead in music had me anticipating a Metallica vocal!

Strong rock song and good effects. You have a very good voice. I like it.

Good tones guitar tones, I like the use of backing vocals and most importantly, a pretty good choruses hook.

The issues I have with this song lie primarily with the vocal work. Although it isn’t bad, the vocal performance lacks the drive dictated by the grinding guitars. It lacks the angst, frustration and grit, and without that, the song will always be incomplete.

I kept expecting some overdub guitar passages during some of the gaps in the vocals. I think this could add some “icing” to keep things alive and moving forward. These overdubs don’t need to be shredding, just offer up some different flavors.

As far as mix goes, move the guitars back abit while retaining their importance and bring the drums forward. The drum part is pretty good and has fitting tones so giving them more presence in the mix will up the energy factor. The tonalities of the instruments are good and fitting to the song, even the processing on the vocals was good.

In short, deliver on the vocal performance, add some guitar accents and tweak the levels some and it would be a pretty killer metal tune.

Thanks guys for your feedback. This is my first attempt at trying to do everything on my own (besides the drums), so any suggestions anyone has is really appreciated. To be honest, I was pretty bummed about my vocals from the start, so I get where you guys are coming from. In trying not to sound like Cookie Monster I may have pulled back from the performance. It's funny, for years I tried to sing like Vince Neil!:p Again, thanks guys for your input. Peace!!

Mix is sounding pretty darn good here...especially for myspace...

I am not really well-versed in this genre as the only time I hear this style music is in this forum. But I really like the guitar sound overall. I agree with prior comments about the vocals. They are done well (much better than I could do to be certain), however I do agree with others that the heaviness of the guitar riffs created an anticipation of less clean sounding vocals.

I do love the harmonies though...kind of alice in chains-ish...(I hope that doesn't offend).

I also would love to hear a little variation in the guitars when the vocals are absent, but as it is, the whole thing is sounded very nice...good work!
