D.I. box for recording Bass?

Do I need a D.I. box or can I just plug my bass into my interface...Whats the difference?

You can plug it right in to the interface, but that gives you a kind of low quality sound. DI boxes clean up your signal and make the bass sound A LOT better.

If you can, try to find a used Whirlwind " HotBox", Countryman DI,or Radial. These are good sounding DI's..Good Luck

What interface are you using? Some have OK instrument inputs. You'll be best off getting a quality DI though. I would recommend a Radial.

using a presonus audiobox usb..was maybe gonna go BBE..So many choices and some have options others dont but I`m a total newbie ..kinda confused. I can daisey chain through my interface right?
