Whats the "best" or preferred way to cut out the guitar amp noise (from hi-gain on Marshall) in idle moments/seconds? Do I go through and do envelopes all over the place or do I just select the idle noisy time and "delete event in track".

On other areas I have been dragging/cropping, where I've punched-in/out and redone something a hundred times. But where I have continuous parts of perfect guitar playing (? !), I have these stretches of noise.

As it is now with most of the other parts on this project I'm doing (my first one), my track view is a beautiful mosaic of pieces & cropped bits and delete holes all over the place. I hope thats not a problem later on (is it? it doesn't seem to affect the sound).

Thanks

Set up a gate or expander on the track, experiment with the settings till you get the desired results.

And your project won't suffer it if you've punched in every 2 seconds, if you can't notice it. I prefer to retrack big parts of the, errr, track if/when I do mistakes... ;)
