Sorry That this isnt really directly music related.. but computer performance related.

Is there anyway That I can cut down on the amount of running processes on my computer? Normally I use one or two programs at a time. Usually Firefox and Aim together, then I use any other software like Adobe Audition completely alone, but there are always tons of other things going on.... how come?

Thanks,
Noah

Could be programs you have running in the background. Make sure they're closed and their icons aren't in the system tray at the bottom right corner of the screen.

They could also be Windows services. Are you using XP? How many processes are listed in the processes tab of the task manager?

They shouldn't take up too much resources but I would still disable the ones you don't need.

You can do this by going to:

Control Panel
Administrative tools
Services

Read the descriptions and/or look them up on the internet if you're unsure which ones you need on and which ones you don't.
