Hi,
I spent about 45 minutes yesterday comparing a pair of Yorkville YSM1P’s and KRK RP5's. I can only afford monitors in this price range right now.
I loved the clarity and separation in the mids of the YSM1P's, but found, that the highs were very harsh (and after about a half hour of listening I began to experience ear fatigue whenever we switched back to the YSM1P's).
In comparison, the RP5's sounded muddy in the mid range, and a bit lacking in the highs, but more 'accurate' overall.
My question is this: would I be better off buying the YSMP1's and trying to cut the highs, or buying the RP5's and boosting/EQ'ing to get more detail in the highs (I don't think the RP5's could be EQ'd to get any more detail in the mids)?
Thanks,
