Dear Cubase / Cubasis pros,

I'm on the verge of purchasing a beginning sequencing program for myself, amateur musician, composer, for my new Windows XP Pro machine.

My music store says that Cubasis (the one I am thinking of purchasing) has more power, whatever that means. I did notice that you can record from voice, and I play violin, so I most likely can then convert violin playing into a midi score.

Other than that, What do you like about Cubase software: How is product support? Are these forums helpful to you? Do you like how the software interface is laid out?

I figure what you buy first is most likely what you will stay with so I would like to hear some input for Cubase / Cubasis.

Does Cubasis do notation - very well?

Thank You,

Mosh

I used cakewalk 6 and 7 a little bit. Currently I'm using GTP3 and doing nothing with MIDI. I've been trying to get midi setup and could not findmy old cakewalk software so I reverted back to a old copy of cubase OLD OLD. I don't know for sure but I think it is something like v.2. I'm still working on getting it to run due to the abstract user interface. But I know Cakewalk 7 did notation so I know all versions of Sonar will do it for you. It also looks like cubase even my old version has a score function that will do it as well.

If your using a violin I would imagine your going to need a midi interace kinda like what they have on some guitars to be able to score music unless you have one with it built in.

I think I will go with the 64bit version of Sonar as soon as they get most of the bugs out of Vista. I really like GTP3's easy to use menu's but it does not include MIDI

Back when I got Cubasis it came with Wavelab Lite which is in itself a powerful tool. It was pretty flawless and it has great documentation. The learning curve is a bit steep but once you read the manual 2-3 times it all falls into place. It is real versitile and works with a zillion plugins. It really helped alot knowing this program when I upgraded to SX3.

I don't use midi too much but I can with relative ease.

I still use cubasis for making cd's from my vinyls.

As far as notation goes, notes are displayed in all MIDI editors. In Score Edit, notes are displayed and edited just as notes on a printed score.
