I am NOT a Gear Whore. ;)
i'm getting a version of cubase SL, i think, through this here site's classifieds, and i was checking out some features.

theres some kind of VST sharing thing, were you can use processing power from another computer??

i've seen that kinda thing before, but this one is Mac compatible??

another question; do you need to have the hardware interface plugged in to use the software? i have PT7 and you have to have it plugged in. i want to be able to load it on my laptop and take it to work with me so i can work on my mixes at work.

thanks.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by 'the hardware interface' but I'm pretty sure it will be fine. Did you mean the 'digi' thing for protools? The only 'hardware interface' I use with cubase is the breakout box for my Delta 44. And thats not mandatory. (well I guess it is if you want to output the sound to something but thats by the by) As long as you have a soundcard in your laptop that will handle whatever you are trying to do in Cubase, and has an output of some sort so that you can hear it, it shouldn't be a problem. And seeing as laptops have built in speakers, there you go. (Although laptop speakers aren't going to help you mix any lol)
Oh and of course the dongle will need to be plugged in.

Not too knowledgable on VST sharing. However I just had a brief look at my Cubase manual for it, and it didn't say anything about it not working with macs.

thanks. the interface meaning in your case, soundcard, but yes my digi002.

Well you need a soundcard, but thats about as far as it goes. What you might find when you open up the projects on the laptop is that you need to remap the outputs, but that's no biggie.

yeah, i figured that much. i'll just use headphones with my iBook for that kinda stuff.

with PT, i have to take the digi002 with me, or i cant even open the program up.
