A bit of advice if you would.

I have cubase on my old computer and recently got a new computer with XP, My old Cubase is not compatible with the new system so I am up for a new program but have been getting fairly pissed off with the problems I've had with the Steinberg software and their back up, a friend says that protools is far more user friendly but I have no idea whatsoever, any thoughts out there?

You can only purchase Pro Tools software in a hardware package, or as a free version with 8 tracks. For the Pro Tools Products, go to www.digidesign.com

It all de pends on what you need. The weak point of Pro Tools is it MIDI, so iuf you really are into sequencing you can consider Cubase. Regarding audio, Cubase stays the standard.

Other options you can search for are Nuendo or even Cakewalk.

I say go with Acid. Audio and MIDI, looping, pitch and tempo changing, and lots of other cool features. I tried Cubase (it came free with my Layla) and thought, "Oh, gee, a dumbed down version of Acid!"

You want really go wrong with any of the top 4 Audio programs (Cubase, Protools, Adobe aud 1.5, Cakewalk). Its like Honda or Toyota. which one is better?
