Just wanted to get some feedback on this. What do you guys think? Cubase vs Pro Tools?!! Ding Ding Ding.
Thanks,
Rob

With Cubase or Nuendo you don't have to buy overly expensive and poorly made proprietary gear which you don't need or want. With Pro Tools you do.

Cubase and Nuendo are very good, fully capable sequencers, as well as DAW; Pro Tools has crap for MIDI sequencing. Professional Pro Tools users use something else for sequencing.

I have not used a current version of Pro Tools in about 5 years, but my Cubase SL is much easier to work with than Pro Tools was back then.

Neither of them have really great mix busses, but no software mixer does, so that is a wash between them.

Personally, I want to get Nuendo with a pair of Apogee AD-16Xs (when they comes out). You can hook up one of the finest ADC's on the planet direct to your computer, 16 channels each at 192k, over firewire. No more expensive and low quality sound cards for me, thank you very much.

I have not worked with the Pro Tools HD....but for $15,000 I think I could find money better spent....I Have Nuendo and Cubase SX 2.0....I like them both...Pretty easy, and sequencing SX is way easy. My soundcard can only sample up to 96khz, but you could firewire with say a Tascam 1884 and will give you the 192khz....That will be my next thing way down the road. Plus even though some might argue that the TDM plugins for protools are the best(focusrite, etc)....Cubase is nice because of the VST or DirectX? I started out 4 years ago with Sonar XL 1.0 and when I got Cusbase SX everything just sounded better. Pro tools sounds good, but so does Nuendo and SX. And for the money, I would rather spend that on guitars and other fun gear, like computer shit.....Rock on!

You really just have to try them out. Everyone works differently I can get everything I need done very quickly in Pro Tools (I have used Cubase, Nuendo, DP and Logic) and that helps the creative process. MIDI in Pro Tools is...adequate but if you do a lot of MIDI work look somewhere else (I like DP for MIDI)

I use Nuendo 2.0 with Steinberg's 96/52 audio card, and a pair of Steinberg's 96K 8i/o AD/DA convertors.
It all runs on a dedicated PC with Win XP Pro. Rock solid, great quality, never a problem.
