I guess this has been asked a few times but I've had no joy with the search (it doesn't seem to like only 2 letters).

Cubase SE seems really cheap (even by UK standards) compared with SL & SX

So what will I be missing out on if I buy SE?

It seems a bit too much of a bargain.

Thanks

Thanks for the link Gary,

Looks like I'll be giving up inputs but with one 8 in soundcard at my disposal that's no big deal.

I'm unsure what effect the quality of the audio processing engine will have on my recordings. Will this be an audio quality issue or a software performance issue, or both (or something else  )?

Thanks for your help

I don't know Kevin, perhaps a bit of both, but I am perfectly happy with SE and can't help but think you would need to be in a high quality monitoring room with top notch gear and well tuned listening skills to detect the difference between the new and the old.

Anyway, there is an upgrade path from SE which costs no more than buying SL or SX from scratch, so what's to lose by starting with SE?

Sold to the portly, bearded gentleman at the back of the room.

Thanks again for your help Garry.

Portly bearded gentleman?! I was born in Bath, I thought the inhabitants of my place of birth were finely honed Adonises with the muse running as freely as the spa waters. Maybe Mum just lied to me ;)

I was up 'til the age of 25 so your mum didn't lie (she just didn't tell you the whole truth :D ).

I too am a Bathonian born and bred, and I can't drag myself away (despite the property prices  ).

Small world eh?
