cubase SE vs. Sonar homestudio 4

I hope this hasnt been asked too much, i did a search and didnt find much. Both of these programs are the same price. I have an audiophile 2496 and need software. All i'm using it for is to mix down onto my computer, and then maybe some slight 'pre-master' tweaking, as i do not have the resources nor experience to master myself. I'm not asking much from the program, but I might end up asking it to do more later on. I use absolutely no midi and probably never will. it probably doesnt matter since i'm doing so little, but what would you guys suggest?

I used Home studio at first Then got Sonar3 found out that if both are installed home studio finds and uses all of sonar3 plugins.... Wonder if there is anyplace you can download them? Homestudio has the basics of sonar3....

There is not really a "better" here. Both programs are solid. Some prefer the layout of one program or the other, but really, they are quite similar. Pick one and start learning it.

Sonar Home Studio 4 has a little more features than Cubase SE. Like 64 tracks total, up to 192Khz recording (though I don't know why you'd need that), and it is actually based off of the Sonar 4 engine. I remember when I checked out home studio, it was almost exactly like Sonar 4, just slightly scaled down. As far as features are concerned in "lite" versions of software, I'd have to say that Sonar Home Studio probably has the most in it.

All that being said though, you could check out N-Track, which is only $79 for the full 24 bit version, or there is another one out that is getting some buzz called Reaper, that can be found here: http://www.cockos.com/reaper/

Reaper is actually free right now and Justin, the guy whos writing the program, has a forum in which he continues to take suggestions and listen to bugs that people are having. Seems like a pretty powerful program, and it's free right now and full featured, so...
