Oh... by the way. It has nothing to do with the sound card. Steinberg stoped supporting that version of Cubase last century. It is not compatible with Windows XP (or ME as well as I remember).

there is always the compatability setting on the exe file or short cut file you could always try running it under windows 98 mode

or try an asio for all driver.

failing that create a partion and install windows 98

I'll actually answer your question.

IT CANT BE DONE !

I am using 3.7r2

I started with 3.5, upgraded to 3.7r2 and like you i dont need the features of other newer versions.

HOWEVER, I am trying to get it to run on win2k just so I can use a 1.1 MHZ processor with 1gb ram.

My current DAW is 500mhz pIII with 512 MB RAM

Yeah buddy, It's slow LOL.

So good luck getting it to work on XP if it dont work on win2k

Go ahead call steinberg, they dont support it anymore.

I don't come here to be either professional or nice.... I come here to be real. I come here for fun, to learn, and to give advice if I can. I think lots of people that come here on a regular basis feel they have the right to help as they see fit.

It may not be the nicest approach but it is helpful for people to know that cracked software is not respected. Likewise... users of cracked software get no respect. Furthermore people who stick-up for crack-heads have no respect for the industry.

If you don't want to buy it... dont. Use some freeware and move on.

Some people simply don't understand software licensing etc and if you can understand that and explain it without being pompous, rude, or eliteist then you'll find that the information in these forums will remain much more useful and positive than if you use it as an excuse to have a cheap shot.

There is no need to be rude either , something many people seem to forget is that Civility costs nothing. I personally see that attitude as an excuse for people to be downright rude to others from the safety of their cosy computer screen.

As to the original question , it just got answered by the guy that posted before me ;)
