Hi all. I just got a tascam 144 which comes with cubase le. I have Santa Cruz for a sound card. When I do my recordings, I hit the monitor button in the track so I can hear myself singing but it sounds like I'm talking to someone in an international country...I don't hear myself in real time. I tried adjusting the latency to a low setting but then I hear popping and clicking. Can anyone please help?

You've selected US 144 ASIO as the driver in the preference screen in Cubase?

Since it's usb you will have some delay, but not much. It should sound like yuo have a really fast delay on. Try getting a firewire interface like The FireBox it's a bit more expensive, but it has a few more inputs (if you have preamps) and it sounds alot better, with way less delay.

I have the original US 122, and I have about 25 ms of latency.

Yes, I'm thinking I should probably just go back to a 122...this is so frustrating.

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't think I have preamps.

You do, they're built into the tascam. Defrag your hard drive, run a check for spyware, disable internet and antivirus while recording.
