I'm having problems replacing existing automation in Cubase LE.

For example, I did the first automation controlling the program with the mouse. Now I'm using an external device to control the faders, etc. I did an automation as an experiment with the external device and it came out fine.

Now I would like to a real one, but no matter what, the old automation is the one that I get. I've read in the manual that to replace using an external, you have to activate the fader by moving it after you are set on Write. I do that, but time and time again I still get the old one.

Is there anyway to just delete your previous automations from existence and start from scratch again? It seems like there should be, but I can't figure it out.

After you write the automation make sure you hit the read button so the program will read the new automation. What type of controller do you have?

it's a yamaha aw 16 g, i think i figured it out. you have to trip the controllers as the song is playing. after you trip, it replaces from there on. that doesn't make much sense though, i wish you could start where you want to without actually tripping each controller, or at least trip while the song is not playing and then write the new automation.

does anyone know if studio 4 works the same way? i'm going to upgrade soon.

I've tried every way possible and I can't get rid of the old automation... it will remember new things but it also remembers the old... very frustrating.

In AA, I just modified the volume line.. very easy, this is a huge pain.

How can I just erase the automation from a track and start over?

i think there is a way.. but i'm not at my music computer to check.

A workaround might just be to copy the waveform to a new track. Then re-do the automation?

Ok, after a few hours of messing and looking i finally found it. On the track with the automation you should see a lighter blue section by the controls of the track, moving your mouse over it reveals an arrow, clicking that will expand another track under the uadio track. ou can also just right click on the control section of the track and hit "show automation."

Once on the automation track, you see a droop down that says mute, volume, and it will list any effects you have inserted. when you click mute, you will see a line running along your audio track, your mute button will follow that line. I believe you can also use this to add effects on just a portion of your track.

Hope all of this helps, I know it did me.:)

It's because LE is missing this feature. You will end up finding a lot of silly stuff like this as you work with LE:
