Cubase latency compensation

So,a simple question here.My input and output latency in Cubase are together 22ms,so If i want to compensate that,do I just have to use the track delay in miliseconds and set the delay to -22ms,or am I missing something here?

No, this is not what delay compensation is.

Delay compensation has to do with the amount of latency that is introduced when inserting plugins. In Pro Tools LE you used to have to get a readout of the introduced latency and then delay all other channels by that amount. In Cubase, this is done automatically.

The latency you're talking about is the end to end transmission time of AD conversion, playback/processing, and DA conversion and is adjusted by toggling buffer settings. You can not compensate for latency because it is impossible to travel backwards through time.

Maybe when they invent proper quantum computing...
