Cubase digital in and line in

Hello everyone,

I have a boss gt-6 with digital out connected to my soundcards (terratec phase 22) digital in. When i play louder i have many cracks in the sound while the volume stays under 0 dB. I already tried to increase the buffer but it seems like the distort is due to volume.

I also have a di box (stage cube 22) connected to my mixer (omnitronic rs-802) via line in and it sounds perfect. I recently upgraded my computer and therefor i never used this setup because the latency or cracks were very high.

But i still dont know why digital in doesnt work that well. Anybody got any ideas???
 
I connected my mixer also to my gt-6. So i can choose if i want to take my guitarsound directly from my mixer or from the gt-6. It seems okay now. When i keep the input to my gt-6 normal it sounds normal. Maybe my gt-6 distorts (unpleasently) when the input level is too high
 
I'm assuming English isn't your first language?

I'm confused what the problem is.
