so i got cubase sx 3 and upgraded to 3.1.1.944 ....i load it up..everything is ok..but when i go to start new project...it gives me an error message: "a seriouse problem has occured..try saving your project under a diffrent name and starting again..." or something like that

i dont know what to do..i reinstalled the software..i formatted my computer and reinstalled windows..and still nothing..same ol error message..

any suggestions?

im using a delta 44, with a shure sm7b mic, and a dmp3 and m-audio bx8's
on windows xp professional

i figured it would be faster and more efficent on the boards then watiing for tech support..but if i dont get help here thats what ill do

how much ram do you have?....I had this problem too...it turned out to be a virus... I downloaded spyware doctor, did a scan and had tons of worms, trojans you name it I had it....I'm not saying that this will fix your problem, but it fixed mine.

Is your dougle looking healthy?

it doesn't sound like a dongle issue to me, if the dongle wasn't working the program wouldn't load at all.

..this is assuming, of course, that your comment wasn't a subtle "is it a stolen copy?" remark.

that said, is your copy legit, botinok? it's sad that every cubase help topic has to be questioned in such a manner before any help is provided...

The upgrade software is corrupted, i guess. My suggestion... revert to old one!

yes my software is legit...

iv tryed downgrading to the original..still same error...i thought it was a virus at first too..but i reformatted me computer and still no luck...i have a gig of ram..iv givin up...i guess im just gonna go back to cool edit 2.1

thanks for the suggestions guys

no, you can contact Steinberg like you said :p
Which is what I would do if I had invested the money in the software.

You spend $600 on software and because of some computer glitch you decide to can it? You must be out to lunch!

have you tried opening a project that worked before you upgraded? also have you tried opeing the different templates or do you not get that far?

you can return softare without a problem

i can open only the midi sequence templete..that works fine...everything else crashes

I'm pretty sure that the  shure sm7b mic is causing the problems.

I've never ever seen any store accept opened software for a return.

What store are you dealing with?

Are you able to open the Synchrosoft licence control centre or does that crash also?...

When I got SX3 and installed the patch, it upgraded the licence control centre to some crappy version that didn't work. I kept getting that error too. So I went to Synchrosoft's site and tried to install the new version, still had the same problem. Hours later I found a solution.

If this doesn't help then sorry for wasting time but here goes anyway:

Goto Synchrosofts site, download new licence control centre version
Put it on your desktop.

Open command prompt (Start>run....then type cmd)

Drag the file you downloaded into the command prompt window, this will display the path to the file at the prompt. On the same line, press space, and type /o
This will install the file whilst uninstalling the old version completely at the same time.

After this all my problems were fixed.
