Cubase 6 Elements, Ezdrummer Drummer 64 bit.

Where to begin? I'm running Cubase 6 Elements and Ezdrummer both in 64 bit. Now if I simply record say 3 guitar tracks (L,R,C) in a guitar group.. then hit the group with some EQ. I can play back and the timeline runs smoothly across the 3 tracks and sounds great. However if I add multichanneled drums (DKFH) , into a group track again with some compression etc just on the group.. now hit playback with a programmed drum part and the timeline skips across the tracks.. however it doesn't affect the sound.. but I know the timeline should move smoothly across. Its driving me insane.. I can't even imagine adding bass and vocals.. the weird thing is I'll bring up task manager and watch my cpu usage while this track is playing its only at 8% or so. My drivers seem to be all in order. Here are my system specs, am I expecting too much from my system?

AMD Phenom II X6 1100t
Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H
2 Seagate HD's
Windows 7 64 bit
16 gigs ddr3 ram
Tascam US-1641 Interface
Ezdrummer 64 bit
Cuabse Elements 6 64 bit
 
What exactly do you mean by "skips acorss the tracks"? Maybe check soundcard latency. And also this could always be a hard disk issue. Check out how it's faring using the Performance metering (F12).
 
His cursor is jumping around I assume. No loss of audio.

I have been unable to help via FB conversations with him. We are friends.
 
Its lagging or skipping, as in not moving smoothly across whats recorded.. kind of herky jerky type forward motion.. but it doesn't effect the sound that I can notice.. I tried the vst performance meter while running the track and the asio part barely moves , the disk part doesn't even show any movement. Is that what the vst performance is supposed to read? I doubt its HD's, Ive tried 3 different ones .. same result. Thanks for the advice... could it be a video problem? Im just at a loss..

Well, of course, that could be part of the problem. I say this from experience.

It could definitely be a video problem. Have you updated the driver?

Maybe, jimmy, you could try a webex session and look at it yourself. I'm pretty sure webex is free for basic use.
 
I just have onboard video on my motherboard... is it a huge task to just update the video driver for my specific motherboard?

I dont think it is too complicated. Probably the hardest part is identifying which driver you need. Bet place to start is the support page of the computer company's website.

Yes, that is what it does. Webex.com. Very low impact on internet access and computer resources. We use it all the time for work.
 
I should add, i've seen outdated video drivers do weird things. I kind of dont think that is the problem, but you need to start eliminating potential causes.
 
I'm going to try an actual video card this weekend rather than the onboard video..I'll let you know how I make out.
 
That would surely take one variable out of the equation. What are you getting?
 
Luckily I have a great cpu guy in my town I've dealt with for probably 15 years now, he has some stuff at his shop we are just going to plug in and try. Then go from there... like you guys have said we have to start eliminating some variables.

That is awesome to be able to try out shiz to find the problem. Or at least possibly eliminate one.

What does he have to say about your issues?
 
All of this because of a corrupt template file , or at least something happened to my template that changed variables I can't explain. I simply tried a new set up(template) for my drums and guitar tracks and it played flawlessly. What I noticed right off the bat if I dragged a groove from ezdrummer the file was physically bigger in visual size to the corrupt ones.. I don't know if the sample rate changed or what.. but my machine definitely has tons of muscle enough to do what I wanted it to do. Multichanneling drums etc.. my cpu usage is very low. So something as basic as that caused me a few days of head scratching.
 
I have had similar experience. Many times it is a simple little glitch that causes complete havoc.

Hopefully it didn't cost you to much before you figured it out.
