I've been waiting for some sort of update. I don't know if going to be free for current users of Cubase 6, but at least we should know within the next few days.

One of the forums gave a stienberg.net link but it was dead.

I found this. The ad is the same as some of the other forums talking about it.

I want to know when 7 is coming out, because there is nothing that rubs me more than shelling for an upgrade only to find out I have to shell for another upgrade in a few months.

I assume it will be about 18 months. Everyone is freaking out about 6.5 vs. 7.0. Had they named it 7 instead of 6.5 then everyone would expect to pay.

Anyway, it seems we will find out today/tonight how much and what all the features are.

I remember when 5.5 came out, 6 was short to fallow.

I do remember they fixed a ton of stuff with 5.5

Actually that was the reason I didn't just to 6 because:

1. I missed the free upgrade by 22 days (EFFFING HORSE SHIT STEINBERG!!!)
2. I was hearing a lot of reports of bugs with the very first version of 6.

It came out. I can't believe Steinerg expects C6 users to pay $50 for a point upgrade.

I've got a question- Do these updates always fix bugs? even if theyre unannounced?
I don't really need the new content, so I'd prefer to wait for 7. But I was wondering, since I'm having problems with N.I plug-ins on the VST meter on two completely different systems, maybe it could be a C6 bug (didn't happen for me on le5) that they fix in this update

I had heard they were offering a separate upgrade that is just bug fixes.

But twas hear say, I don't go on the Steinberg forums anymore (hated the way that forum was run).

Well 6.5 is out now boasting two new VSTi's. If you bought 6.0this year then you're eligible for a free upgrade.
Older users will have to fork our £45 for the upgrade. Here's Steinberg info.

Something new in 6.5 version? What exactly we should expect?

Something new in 6.5 version? What exactly we should expect?

2 new VST instruments (actually I got to mess with them over at my buddies house, not bad)
2 new useless VST3 effects (DJ eq and Morph Filter, I thought they were both stupid)
Ability to import and work with FLAC files as well as others (REX, REX 2 etc...)
Updated version of Amp Rack that includes 4 (IIRC) Meshuggah presets and I think some new stomp boxes
I think you can export directly to soundcloud now as well
Rewire in 64 bit mode

It really bugs me that DAW manufacturers think tacking on useless, silly plugin instruments (and also in this case FX) counts as un update / upgrade. To me, you change the core functionality, not just give us toys that pretty much all of us already have superior 3rd party versions of.

And on top of it all, they want 50 bucks for it. Lame sauce.

The instruments are actually pretty nice. The plugins are beyond stupid.
