Cubase 5 Review

Looks like a solid review of a solid product. I'm still new to Cubase (used to use Cakewalk years ago) and am still getting into the hows / whats of LE4. For me, there's no need to upgrade just yet. For some of the more experienced folks I can see some of the tools being pretty good, especially the pitch-find tool. It is a shame that they're still packing the HALion stuff separately. I think if that came with the package it would be a lot more attractive for the price tag.

I'd need to see the amp and effect modeling too, because I'm almost exculsively using Amplitube for that kind of stuff, and it's pretty amazing.

Different Terminology?

May I suggest you use the terms "digital audio workstation" or "DAW" as opposed to "sequencer" when referring to the total product?

"Sequencer" is a somewhat archaic term for this category of product, and is a function which may not even be used by many who utilize Cubase.

Thank you...

I'm looking for a decent cubase 5 review, I thought I'd get one here at HR. I keep getting error messages. Is that because the review is too old??
Thanks. I'll take my answer off the air..

Nothing. I guess when we did a site update some of the urls have changed....but still it should redirect. I'll report this.

Should'a went with C-4 standard first. I'd still be working with it.

Thanks very much. The review was very helpful. I now realize that, I should have never bought Cubase 4 Essential in the first place. I was trying to understand why my track count was so low. Most all of my tracks are "instrument" tracks and Essential only gave you 8. And depending on how many and what kinds of plugins you use, might only end up with 3 or 4 tracks!! Ouch! And a lot of crashes, blips, scratchy sounds, pops and freez-ups. Maybe I'll get my money's worth out of C-5. I sure didn't with ES.

There-fore, I'm happy to say that C-5 will hopfully take me into 2012 or beyond for what it's promising. :D
