Crying...Please help ;(

Whats the best RAP MIC??!
I was trying out my new wall hangers and it felt sturdy so I turned around for a second (I was just seeing how it looked real quick) and my taylor 314ce fell and the back of it cracked badly

. I bought it about 2 years ago from Guitar center new. Please tell me if this is under warranty or something....

I can't afford to buy a new guitar ;(;(
 
Ouch. Just ouch.

(Sorry, I have no idea about the warranty. But ouch.)
 
:( Been there man. Dropped a BC Rich down the stairs a few years back :(

I know! I feel for you. I'd say to walk away and clear your head. Get some sleep and make some calls in the morning. Prepare for the worst--that the warranty's either expired or doesn't cover this type of damage, then be ready to call some luthiers.

Right now the worst thing is that it's all unknown. After you make some calls, even if the $$$ is high--it won't be unknown. You can start digesting in and dealing with it.

=/ Maybe your right. It's just going to suck waking up in the morning thinking to myself "Fuck, that was real."

Is there any way I can just use wood glue to seal the back together and still make it sound just as good?

It's like two cracks 2 inches long on the back side opposite the neck, so kind of near the bridge. The middle part inbetween the cracks is pushing up so I would have to force that down and glue it....

Don't mess with it--take it to a pro. Trust me, there's almost no way you're gonna get it right. And after the pain of seeing your baby fall and break, the only thing that's gonna make it right is for it to be fixed right. If you do it yourself, and it doesn't look right (very likely) or worse, doesn't sound right (also very likely) you'll never get over the fact that it was broken.

So get some sleep and look up some pros tomorrow. Doctor's orders!!

Alright, thanks for the help man. I really appreciate it. I am going to head to sleep. I'd throw up some pics, but I don't feel like going through the process of finding my camera and stuff right now. This sucks =[. Night guys...
 
Dude that sucks. I know your pain. About two years ago I had a sax that was the best ever fall 20 feet down a flight of stairs. Totaled it.
Cheapest I found a replacement for was 2500 bucks and it doesn't compare to the dead one.

Seems unlikely the warranty would cover accidents but you never know. Give it a try.

DON'T try to fix this yourself if you have no skills in that department.
 
I don't know how litigious your part of the world is but...
who or what is at fault for the thing falling?
Did the hanger give way?
Did you install it poorly?
etc etc
All of which is moot - take the guitar to a luthier post haste!!
 
yeah - I'd read the hanger warranty before I read the guitar warranty.

For what it's worth, I had a much less prized Fender 12 string acoustic and the headstock broke off at the top of the neck after some impact (not sure exactly what happened). I resolved to fix it myself and got out the wood glue and clamps, and after 24 hours when the clamps came off it seemed to be fixed, played fine, etc. But alas, it came back apart in a few days. I tried it again, and it only lasted about a day. I did a few other things, each attempt getting more destructive than the last, and finally stripped off the cannibalizable parts, and took the rest to the dumpster. Re-imagining the whole thing had happened to a guitar I cared much about, I can say with conviction that it would be worse to realize that I had contributed to the ultimate demise of the guitar than it was to see the initial damage.

No love lost in the case of that 12 string, but the moral is: get thee to a luthier!
 
I see a lot of this sort of thing doing warranty work and all. I have to say that you will be lucky to get it done for zilch. At the end of the day the warranty covers parts and workmanship it doesn't cover accidental damage.

My advice to people in this situation is to get the quote from a Taylor repair guy or whoever and if it's more than you can comfortably afford put in a claim on your household insurance. Often a better option.

On the subject of the repair itself. Although not having seen any pics yet you should never delay too long when getting splits and cracks in timber repaired. They always go back cleaner and neater the sooner they are done.

Do not attempt the repair yourself unless you are a skilled cabinet maker and have access to the right tools.

Good luck and don't forget nobody died today from a dropped/damaged guitar.:)
 
Hey guys. So I just looked at my records and I purchased the taylor guitar pro warranty thing. It says it covers cracks and shit to everything but the finish. Do i have a shot of getting this done for cheap? I bought it from guitar center.
How long does it usually take to get from taylor back to me, because I might see if I can just rent a guitar if its going to be over two weeks. Thanks for all the input. This really is devastating to me but its too late to cry over something that already happened =/
 
Give them a call and talk to them. They will give you the names and addresses of authorised repair shops near to you. As far as the warranty goes I really don't think you'll get by regardless of the length of time you have had ownership. The instrument is under warranty for the life of the instrument if you are the original owner. Even then they do not cover accidental damage or misuse.

We cant really help you any further until you have called them and got their response.

I was going to get a few wall hangers for a few of the guitars I have however after reading this thread I decided to not get wall hangers.
