Crucial is putting a stop to their free 2nd day air shipping policy. I was told that shipping will be $8.50 for 2nd day air in the future, which isn't so bad really.

Anyways, you have until the 15th of this month. This is the module to buy for pretty much *every* PII/Celeron/PIII/CeleronII system and non-DDR Athlon/Duron/K6-2/K6-3 systems:

$53.09 for 256MB CAS2 PC133 shipped free 2nd day air. The good stuff!

hi slack,

my pc manual says that I can only go up to 256 megs. ie 128 in two slots.

Is there any way I can bypass this. I feel that memory is the most important thing, and if I could get more, I would probably go up to 1 gig

thanks

Ive got a 256mb and a 64mb stick in my crappy ass HP-Pavillion....I think that is a little overkill but its so cheap....if you have a motherboard that only takes 256mb, is it maybe an older motherboard? and maybe a new motherboard is needed?....

Thanks for the heads-up! I needed to get some DDR for the box I'm hoping to get built in the next couple of weeks, so I'd better get with it.

The site says through 16 July, so I have an extra day. 8-)

Cyan, do you have a big brand computer? The reason that I ask is that 2 slots totalling 256MB kinda sucks and sounds very HP/Compaq to me. If you have a big name machine, then upgrading the motherboard is probably out of the question.

However, you're in luck because I doubt that you'll need more than 256MB for a while unless you're doing graphics or video. You can put a gigabyte of memory in a PC, but if you're only using a max of 160MB, for instance, what's the point? Are you on NT/2000? If so, open up the task mananger and watch your physical memory usage to determine what you really require.
