Cross talkin'

When ever I use Cool Edit I get a whole crap load of cross talk on all of my chanels, no matter what version or computer. Is there any way of stoping this? thanks.

A 1.5 gig, hundered somthing megs of ram, not very much hard drive space left, but 20 gigs. I'm going through a Terratec ews88 mt multitracking soundcard. But even on tracks I record on seprate then other tracks have cross talk on them.
 
I know I have to set the mixer that came with my soundcard properly or I'll get monitored tracks recorded on to the new track I'm recording. I have to uncheck 'stereo mixer' on my soundcard mixer settings.
