I just started work on a song, it's not done, not mastered, it's not even mixed well...but I recorded it all in hour at the most...I think I like it, but I wanted to see what you guys had to say...I'd like some advice on the drums (not the levels or effects, but the samples and the actual loop) as serveral people have said they don't like the loop.

Where are the words? This is the "Songwriting Forum".

Try posting this in the MP3 Clinic.....thats where most people post their musical ideas around here.

the sounds are good. i like the loop, the "snare" sound being more of a clap sound makes the song sound very poppy against the "synth" melody. if the poppy kind of sound is what your trying to achieve you got it.
maybe it's just my love for more progressive things, but it's a bit repetative. maybe throw a key change in there. not for too long, maybe one measure just to give the listener more to hear. imo, it would be placed nice after the "verse" (the part where the melody drops out and it is just the guitar and the drums) before you go back into the melody. i hope ya know what i mean, lol.
the bass drum sound could be a lil more up front or louder or clearer too.
over all, i like it. it sounds nice. i have been a big time prog rock and metal fan for most of my life and never really liked pop too much. but (don;t hate me for this guys, lol) a friend of mine showed me the Avril Levigne album and i'm in love. i never liked poppy music before and this album has got me all about it. when i listened to the "synth" melody in this song for some reason my mind started placing lyrics and ideas to it.
sounds good. and i hope that your going to extend it some more. it's a lil tooooo short.
i'd like to hear the more of this when it's finished. be sure to post it here when it's done.
Mike...
