I was asked to put together a "techno" track for a kid's stageshow. They wanted a "Mission Impossible" style dance track for when the main characters get trapped inside a computer and chaos ensues.

I'm not into techno really. I'm more into classical and big band jazz. So I had some fun with the concept...

I have rather limited quality recording equipment, so this is all done in a single take (stereo) into USB on an old under-spec'd laptop computer.

(4.5 MB - 2:00 mins)

All / any comments welcome...

heh, I think it sounds like in game battle music lol. Definatly something you'd hear in a video game. SOunds pretty good.

I am getting nintendo thumb from listening to it. It sounds pretty good considering you " have rather limited quality recording equipment, so this is all done in a single take (stereo) into USB on an old under-spec'd laptop computer. " I liked it, and it's not a style of music I am into either...

This is slightly past nintendo I think. I'm pretty sure we're into sonic the hedgehog zone. If they wanted mission impossible stuff I probby would've increased the tempo slightly, this seems to have a bit more bouncy groove. I liked it though, some of those sounds remind me of bocephalus's bouncing ball from the pi soundtrack.

Jumps Mario to get the coins and then knocks over a turtle. (*FLIPPITY DING DONG! FLIPPITY DING DONG*)

I don't think you can call this done in a single "take" though since it's programmed. Prolly what you mean is you only had a single input source when you were tracking.
