Good job.
I found the cymbal a bit washy and annoying but that may just be my monitors and ears
great work ShanPayton

After referencing in my car it does seem to have a bit more life blown into it and sounds a little more "together", yet, it seems to be wearing a blanket of low end somewhere?? Maybe it is just me and my ears being tired of hearing it? :thumbs up: Please let me know what you think. Pick it apart, I got thick skin.

Thanks.

Yeah the new mix is better, and yeah it does seem to have a little bit of a blanket over it. I don't think it's pure low end though. Look into the 500-800hz region in the guitars. I'm familiar with this kind of blanket, and that's usually where it lies with my own stuff. Just a little notch might tighten them up some. The rest seems good.

Meh. I really liked the first mix better for the low fi guitars. The new guitars sound 'too' good. But you did get rid of that annoying noise. I dunno. It does sound a bit more full. Good Job.

I hear a blanket too. Are you sure it isn't just a crappy Mp3? thats almost what it sounds like. Or a radio mix. I want to hear vocals. This is great song i hope you do the vocals justice.

Where in Canada are you?

Sounds to me like the new guitar tracks are "heavier" (more low-mids) than the original guitar tracks. That might be your blanket right there. I like the new guitars better, but try dialing them back bit by bit and see if that blanket goes away somewhere in the process. The drums have some great pop to 'em, and they'll shine more with less guitar as well.

Sounds great. I can't wait to hear it with vocals!

-Thank you. I will look into the notch thing Greg. I am lost when it comes to that kind of filtering but i am sure i can figure it out. It also seems that the blanket kind of disappears when i turn off the mix glue compression on the master? Maybe it is something going on in there?

-Really Atom? The first mix is kind of painful to listen to now in retrospect. HaHa! But to each their own. Also i live in Alberta right now, but my home is in Nova Scotia. You?

-WhiteStrat. What do you mean by dial them back? Dial them down in db's or in freq"s ?

Also the vocals are coming! I finally found some awesome space to do them at. I am really excited. Now i just need to make my mind up on mic selections. I just found out that Long and McQuade rent those out too so i may just pick a weekend and do all my Vocals together and play around with a few different high end mics? But i may just stick with my trusty 57.

Yep. There's no set amount obviously, but it's a good way to test my theory. Bring the guitars down a smidge. Listen. Bring 'em down again. See if there's a point at which the guitars still hold their own, but the "blanket" goes away. If so, then maybe the problem in the second mix is the added low-mids of the new guitar tracks. If not, then I'm wrong! Wouldn't be the first time. Heck, it wouldn't be the first time today!
