It sounds very good, no doubt. I don't like the bass tho. It's kinda muddy without much definition. Still it blends pretty good.

Everything seems very panned in a way.. not much going on in the middle... just an observation.. not good/bad...

Cool tune with a nice chorus.

PEDULLIST: Thanks man! Let me know if you get to hear it sober...on monitors, or speakers. But, hell, if it sounds better drunk, maybe that should be my new prerequisite for listening to my tunes.

MESHUGGAH: I can't seem to get any sober listeners, but that's alright. I think I've got a new target audience! Yeah, my bass sucks, and I've really got no D/I device, so my bass usually comes out as my weakest link. i'll have to remedy that someday when I get some money. Unfortunately, the bass should be sitting in the middle, but if it's muddy, it might be hard to tell. I think the vocals should be center as well...hmmmm...I'll have to check it out. Thanks for listening guys!

BSANFORDNYC: Thanks! You're too kind!

Maybe it's just me, but it always seems like everyone else's music sounds more professional and better written than my stuff. Maybe it's just because I'm too close to it. Thanks for the kind words!

Man, this song is really hot! This song could sell. I'm jealous that I didn't write it :)

have you performed it live anywhere?

My only criticism would be to make it a little bit longer! Specifically, this is what would have seemed natural to me for the song: at the very end (the end as you know it) the song just drops right off and ends...what if, after a couple seconds of silence, the chorus smashes in again, then another small guitar solo outro to wrap it up? Just an idea, that's what I thought was going to happen when I listened to the song, and I surprised me when it just ended right there...

Hey! Damn nice of you to say!

I've done it live once at the only open mic I've done about a month or two ago. I'm gonna start doing them more regularly, I need a lot more live playing experience.

I was actually considering doing another verse or something, but I subscribe to the theory that less is more. ya know? keep them wanting more of it (if possible), that way they play it again. I've heard some songs that I've really liked, but they were so damn long I was turning them off half way through. I actually used to write like 5 minute songs until I found myself not listening to MY whole songs all the way through (of course you've got the fact that I've heard all my own song like 1000 time each). I also kind of liked the way I ended it, if not just for the sake of keep em' guessing. Sometimes it's hard for me to break out of the formulas that have been laid down, and all the songs tend to run together (for me) if they've all got the same structure...anyway, sorry...I'm babbling...

Thanks for listening and responding!

you have a good point...in my desire to hear the hook one more time, I have to listen to the whole song again, further engraving it into my brain

Yeah, I guess it's kind of a dirty trick (if it works)...but you gotta do something.:D

A most pleasant production!
Good drum machine pro'grming, and excellent capturing of the git!

This jammie just flat-out jump's up at you and suck's you into it's flow!

This was truly enjoyable!.

Hey thanks for the positive feedback! It's much appreciated!

Well, I think it's time to let this baby slide back to the depths...thanks for responding everyone!

From just a person who has just begun to get into home recording and listens to music

Listening to "Roll with the Punches"...fun song and I think it sound very professional...now I must admit, it is going to take time for me to learn the lyrics, but that is half the fun...nice job and hope I can find time to listen to more.

What are you using to record your music? It sounds great!

Hey RENAGADE! Thanks for checking out some of my stuff! Here's the list of what I used in "Roll With The Punches" (I guess this is a little off topic seeing as how this link was about "So Cold", but no prob!)...

Mic: Studio Projects C1
Pre-Amp: M-Audio Audio Buddy
Outboard Compressor: Behringer Ultra Dyne Pro
Recorder: Roland VS-880EX (8 track) here I used a couple internal effects like reverb, delay, and a mastering option)
Guitar: Big Baby Taylor
Bass: Shitty Squire
Drum Machine: Boss Dr. Rhythm 770

By the way, the only thing that really changes from song to song on my site is the use of either the Studio Projects B1 or Studio Projects C1. That's about it. All the equipment is the same.

Does that help?

Thanks and good luck!

Smoooooooth

Terrific timing. Very cruisy. This piece just flows--totally clean, good mix, nice writting.

I think you put it all together on this one.

I'm sober and I still like it.

I did like it better when I was drunk though. Could just be the beer within eye sight, of course. ;)

Robertt8,

I really like this! And, I think you're stuff is sounding really well recorded and mixed. Not that I would know how to do that myself.

I love your voice, and consistently like to listen to your songs. And it does have a cool, latino-esque groove to it, that I really like. Makes me want a martini or something.

But, then, I'd be drunk.

What's the name "birdsallinteractive" about, anyway? I always wondered that about your site.
:)

Hey all! I've been out at a family emergency/nightmare for the last week or so, so sorry about the late return...

SLOOP: THNANKS MAN! I appreciate the complements. I'm glad you like it!

PENDULLIST: Thanks for checking it out sober (by the way, I think I like it drunk better myself...but then again, I seem to like everything better drunk):D

KGIRL72: Thanks for checking it out and responding. Thanks for the kudos on the recording and mix! I always feel like eveyone's stuff on this board is sooooooo much better than mine. Feel free to grab a martini and get drunk like everyone else!;) By the way, Birdsall Interactive is the graphic design company I work for in California (Oakland to be precise). I just hijacked a little section of their site for my mp3 posting needs. Thanks again!

Birdsallinteractive...funny, I thought it was about birds somehow. Makes total sense now! Would have never put the birds and the all together until you said that.

Have a good one. And, today, after work, we ARE going to a Martini bar, so I'll have one and toast you.
-K.
