Great Job!

I loved it!
The only things I noticed was that the first shaker beat was off and ocassionally there after got off.
The cymbals were a little cheesy.
The sound quality and performances were wonderful. If only I could get people and sounds of that quality to frequent my Studio I'd be happy!

Keep pluggin!
Tom

Hey I like it a bunch, cool sound. nice percussion idea

On the recording side the vox jumps way out and over where the harmony comes in, like just before 1:00. Maybe sqeeze that portion a bit. good mixdown otherwise.

Peace
Bill

TMIX: Hey Thanks! For some reason I always screw up that first beat of the egg shaker...can't seem to get that right. well, at least you know it's human. The drums however are not real as you probably noticed. I was thinking maybe I turned them up a bit too much...especially for not being real. I might mix 'em back a bit so I can turn up the whole mix. I'm not using much in the way of cymbals on the song...where does it sound "cheesy"? Thanks for the complements and feed back!

WFARAONI: Again, thanks for the positive feed back! Yeah, my choruses are a little "thicker" than the rest, I might need to compress that a bit or turn down the drums.

Thanks guys! Any other suggestions or comments?

What I am hearing sounds like a drum machine ride cymbal kind of competing with the shaker, but I might be hearing wrong.(listening at work over computer speakers)

My compliments all the way.

I often can't get that first shake right on the money, since I am using a DAW I just pick a section of established rhythm and replace the first few beats.(yeah.. I cheat)

Real nice. I liked the rapid fire delivery of words over the smooth groove underneath. The guitars sound great.

A little sync issue with the vox at about 1:33. Real little though.

Harmonies in the chorus, maybe just "ahhs", might sound nice and bring out some warmth.

Good job.

Thanks for the feedback. It helps in many ways...Does anyone notice the drums being a bit overpowering? I think it maybe bugging me a bit, but no one else has really seemed to mention it...

TMIX: Thanks again! It could be the shaker, but you're probably right, the high hat kind of overlays the shaker and might be a little funky at the chorus. I'll check it out. Thanks! Speaking of which, do you think this tune has any "promise" compared to some of the stuff that rolls in your studio?

TRIPLEM: Thanks for the complements! I know, I could stand to maybe redo the overlaying chorus vocals, or at least turn them down a bit. I'll take a look and see if the "ahhs" might fit in. On a side note, should a song that's called "So Cold" have warmth?

Any other advice or help?

Robert, I didn't think the drums were too loud at all. I'm trying to be objective because I know sometimes people want to bury canned drums in the mix. But if these were real you wouldn't turn them down, right?

Another good tune by the way.

Twist

I agree that the vox jumps out at times. Vox is also a little too processed for me. Percussion should come down but just a little. Lead guitar (toward the end) is way too soft. Really cool song; otherwise loved the vocal and the rhythm.

TWIST: It's interesting...I've listened to this tune on a bunch of sources, and on some the drums really jump out and some they don't...wacky. I've noticed that on various sources some things pop out more than others. the problem is it seems to change depending on the source. Thanks for the complement again. This is the first time I've taken advantage of my Roland 8tracker and it's effects and stuff, so it's a bit of a learning experience.

LI_SLIM: Like I'd mentioned above, This is my first shot at using the Roland VS-880EX to it semi-full potential. I might have plopped on a bit to much reverb, and then bouncing down and using the mastering stuff seems to amplify the effects a bit. I know the voice jumps out a bit at the begining, but I kind of adjusted it after a few seconds. Thanks for the feedback!

This one works for me. Nice wide field with just a few instruments, lotsa work in the arrangement and it shows, playing is good, I only heard a couple of bumps, tones are smooth and natural sounding. I few minor level spikes in vox trak. I listen to stuff pretty loud and its all good here dude.

Me likes!!!

I really am liking acoustic music in my old age :D. Very well done. Nothing to add other than that.

TOKI987: Hey Thanks! I personally like the separation. Otherwise it ends up lacking some stereo. There's a fine line between it sounding mono and stereo. I seem to always have a few "bumps" in my stuff. If only I had the disipline to demand a perfect performance...Thanks!

JAGULAR: I hear ya! I'm totally into the acoustic stuff. I hardly ever touch my electric any more. Acoustic just has that "timeless" sound. Thanks!

The guitars sound like they have a ping-pong effect going on - especially at the beginning. I'd bring them closer to the middle.
The verse section sounded herky-jerky and not well defined.
The chorus was excellent! I love the sweet vocals in the chorus,
I'd consider losing the faux grit in the verse vocals.

Overall sound quality is very good. Nice job

DIMCHANDELIERS: Hey thanks...I think. The guitars don't have any ponging going on, just a bit of reverb on one....I haven't really noticed that. As far as the verses, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by herky-jerky...how would you avoid that?

Thanks!

One of my favs of all time in the clinic. Thought I'd give it a bump for some of the new folks.

Dennis

Well how about that! This is a total blast from the past! I'm glad you dug it enough to rebump it. Thanks!

Nice bump!!

HOW COOL! Way to go Rustyfingers!!
Thanks so much for bringing this one up again! I've never heard it and it absolutely kicks absolute ass!! What the hell - I just edited out my comments on the mix - this song has an unstoppable groove attributable to some really nice playing and excellent vocalizing. Lots of dynamics and 'schmalz' on the chorus. Excellent guitar playing - nice bass sound - this one's a keeper tune for me - love the groove!!!
Rusty - thanks for bringin it up front where it deserves to be!!
Robertt8 - thanks for writing and performing it so well!
