Crit on mix

When you say bounced, you mean your making a stereo wav file of your mix correct? If that wav file is low you can "normalize" it to 0db. It sounds strange you "have to" use a compressor to get a good volume. Loudness and fullness yes, but It doesnt sound right that your channels are so hot and you cant produce a simple mix file.

Ok. I'll give that a try. Thanks.

While you are being helpful, I was wondering if you could help me understand something about normalization versus compression. Presume I put a compressor on the 2-bus and set the threshold at 0dB, and then crank the makeup gain until I see reduction and back it off until I no longer see reduction anywhere on the song. So basically I think there would be no compression at all if I did this. Only the volume of the track would be raised until the highest peak sits at 0dB. Is that the same result one would achieve by normalizing to 0dB? I'm just curious if I understand normalization properly, and how compressors work. Thanks again.

I hope this is just a "I'm going to record this just for the sake of recording practice". If not, this was boring as hell. I'm not sure how long the song is because I fell asleep after a minute into it.

Thanks, I think you got the point there.... thats why I asked to comment the mix and not the song

Anyhoo! thanks for the input there guys I got a really good starting point and having starting implementing that which has been put forward.
