Creative Cards

I always hear about Creative cards not being any good for serious work. I have a SBLive plat. and do want to upgrade soon.
wondering in which area do SB's fall short?

SNR?

16 vs 24 bit?

Drivers / compatability?

etc

I am able to record 6 chanels simultaneously (probably more) with www.kxproject.com drivers. I am happy with the channel count but am wondering where would I really gain in upgrading.

If it is to do with the SNR will it make much difference when I am not recording in silent conditions?

The number of inputs in some cases, 16 bit, lots of noise, compatability problems, latency issues, and just the quality isn't very good for recording.

I'm sure there are others? 1/8' input jacks? (does the plat have these?).

I do have 1/8" jacks on my plat. but i don't use them. I use RCA connections and 1/4" on the live drive.

These input are TONS quiter than the line ins from the AC97 chip.

I can have 5.33 latency. And I have MME Asio and Wdm. So I have no problems with the number of inputs (6 channel recording - probably could do more) or compatability or latency.

Does this mean that that main advantage of upgrading would be the bit depth and sample rate?
