Gotcha, sorry for the redundant post, after a couple minutes of reading through this forum I realized I was way off the mark ...

i gotta soundblaster audigy 2 platinum card not much diff, from the one u want. I record wit it, not bad, but u should aim 4 a diff card, they keep tellin me to get a Echo Layla or something, around the price of that Sb card u want.

Stay away from Audigy cards for recording. Their inner clock is fixed at 48 khz rate. You won't get good result in recording at other resolutions. There are EMU cards from the same company, which don't have that problem. EMU 1212M for instance is a very good soundcard for homerecording.
There are many inexpensive mic preamps out there. Presonus bluetube, Art MP line etc...

Audigy + recording studio = bogus

If it's all you can do give it a shot but, later you'll be wishing you had saved the bucks and sprung for a real recording interface.
