I know this will be the simplest post (from a newbie standpoint) you've seen in a long time but I need a little help.

I am the only person in my household using the 2 computers. I've never had a need to have more that one "account" until now.

I run one PC as a digital audio workstation. I would like to be able to log in two different ways. One login would have the ethernet card enabled. When I want to record, I would like to login with the ethernet card disabled.

How can I do this?

Thanks.

Don't bother with multiple user accounts.
My experience has shown me that the more accounts you add, the more issues the computer develops. All 5 of my machines have only one account. Even the guest account is turned off.
However, with my laptop, I've setup two hardware profiles.
One for normal computing and one for DAW.
I'm going to assume that you are running an XP flavor.
If so, check out this page for setting up hardware profiles and this page for configuring XP services.
Both are from BlackViper.com.
Once you have set up a separate hardware profile for DAW use, you can disable unneeded devices via Device Manager.
Open the properties for said device and at the bottom of the window there should be a selection box for "Device usage" .... If I remember correctly, you should be able to select the usage per profile. If the different profiles aren't listed, then you would just boot to the profile you want to make the changes in and select to disable said device in the "Device usage" box.
