Bored of Canada
Setting up a new project everytime is getting annoying.
I tried to save something as a template, but it gave me this weird name folder option. I thought that was it. So I closed... and when I opened no "production shmuction" template
I dont remember it being this way on le5

I've not been able to save templates either. There may be an issue with the Cubase 6 installer when used to update from version 5. Check the Stienberg website for an update to version 6.0.5. Even though
mine is a "clean" install I'm still having trouble. I will try the update this week. Let me know how it goes.

i'll go do that now.
ill post a follow up in 20 minutes

I might be totally barking up the wrong tree but here goes
when you save a template shouldnt it save it in C/steinberg/cubase6/templates ?

You would think so, kip4. After I "attempt" to save a template, I can't find the file. The only time I see the file name again is when I try to save another template. I've searched the Steinberg files and it can't be found, I can find the factory presets, but not mine. It's getting mighty old having to map out 11-14 channels for a live recording or opening an old file and erasing the old tracks. It's bad enough for me to wonder if it's an issue with Protools. I've not applied the 6.0.5 update, yet, perhaps that will correct the problem.

I've searched for mine and found the test file("template test") at
C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 6_64\Project Templates

Just empty folders within empty folders :wtf:
I'm trying to avoid contacting Steinberg since I feel like it should be an easy fix and don't want to bother them, but I might have to

For now I've just had to create the template I want as I normally would, but instead of saving as template I just save it as a project (ex: template) and rename it to whatever I need to. Not a biggie...but still, it would be nice to not have to that

omg
I've got it now. I didn't see the "new preset" field below the "attributes" section. I thought it stopped there. I thought creating new folders would save the preset.
I went to take a screenshot to show someone what I was talking about. I accidentally moved the "Save Template As" box... and saw that there was another section my Windows taskbar was blocking

I just typed the template name into the new preset field and BANG there it is :o

Ive gotta go cry now. My n00bs are showing

LOL! I was feeling all giddy for answering your question, then saw you figured it out. Also, once you create a template, it will always be available when you just start Cubase. Under 'More' when the Recent Projects menu comes up, Templates are shown. :)

Yeah, I seem to always figure everything out on my own after I start a thread on it
I think I was confused because creating templates on le5 just consisted of clicking save as and then naming it. Or at least I think it did.

here's one you can maybe help with though- how do I delete templates?
i'm probably never going to use any of the built in ones.

I don't know for sure because i've never bothered to erase the presets that came with it. If i was to guess i'd go to the templates storage file and delete them from there?
Probably best to move them instead to a back up hard drive incase you need them later.

Thats kinda what I do. I just hate it that my employers paid 400+ bucks for a program, at my recommendation, that doesn't do what it should. Sorta makes me feel bad you know. I'm working with it this weekend. I'll post if I find the solution.

What exactly was the problem you're having?

Mine was just user error :(

I was having the same problem as you, kidkage, with saving and recalling the templates. Your accidental discovery of the "New Preset" field solved my problem. too. After I read your post, I opened Cubase, opened the "save template as" function, grabbed and moved the window and...DOH! There it was... Thanks for the help.

Problem solved then guys. Great news.
I did'nt even know this was possible so now i am aware i'll be sure and check if i have a similar problem in future. Good work btw
