I took the leap a few months back and upgraded from a 7yr+ old MacBook and Garageband to an iMac with Logic Pro X along with EZDrummer2.
I've played guitar, bass and keys for a long time but I'm fairly new to programming realistic sounding drums. I was hoping for some advice, books, tutorials etc. that will explain this in detail and get me on my way to producing interesting drum parts & fills for my songs rather than bog standard drums that just plod along.
I've been told to look at Groove 3 - Drumming Explained by Eli Krantzberg but after watching previews all the lessons are shown on score rather than a Piano Roll which I would find much more beneficial. Essentially I just want to learn more about different time sigs, ghost notes, fills and how to bring my drum programming knowledge up to an informed level. I have also been recommended the drum course on Lynda but I want to get some opinions before spending on tutorials. I'm a confident user of Logic X it is really just the drums that are bugging me.
Advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks
p.s. I understand that I could use the Logic X Drummer and then convert to Midi to tweak but I'd really like to be able to put an idea in my head into the piano roll so I can really understand the dynamics and construction of the drumbeat
