Creating Loops in Reason

I have a redrum track setup in Reason now...i dont want to copy and paste each and every drum note for the whole song, so is there any quicker way of doing this? i want to keep the drums contant throughout the whole song so the notes dont get messed up or misplaced which will make the whole song get out of order.

Select the redrum track in the arranger mode... Go back to the rack and right click on Redrum... click "Copy Pattern To Track"

Make sure you put the loop points where ya want them.. It will only populate inside the loop points...

This technique is good for Dr.Rex, but for ReDrum, you can use automation quite easily - just go to edit mode on the sequencer track, and you'll see a yellow track with the default A1. This is the automation track for ReDrum, and you can use the pencil tool to bar-by-bar draw in the pattern you wish to play... of course, if you've only got one pattern, it'll be A1 all the way....
It works exactly like a drum machine (for good and bad).

Dr Biscuits, why would he do it that way? Its easier to do it the first way.
The Redrum will put dr.rex type grouped notes in block that can be grabbed and moved far easier.............

Oh wait...i think i forgot to add one thing...im not really using the "drum machine"...as in..im just using redrum for the variation of different bass drums,cymbals, snare drums etc...i used my keyboard to write the drum notes..as in i played/recorded the drums with my keyboard..so now, i want to loop one bar so it continues for the rest of the song..

Ah gotcha... I was assuming he created patterns on the Redrum and then wanted to arrange them in the sequencer -thats the way I always used Redrum, as a direct throwback to an old DR550 drum machine...

Two words.. "Copy" & "Paste"... Loop by treating the notes as text or like cells in a spreadsheet... Then move the "Play" marker ... Then paste... I think that's what you're after...(all of this will be in the arranging window, not the rack)

You can also highlight a section and group it(sort of like with a ReDrum pattern). then you can do the same thing as with a redrum pattern.

That's exactly what i do infact...but its so time-consuming if u know what i mean..and after i copy and paste, the drum notes are misplaced so i have to carefully listen to it and fix where the beat breaks up.

This is an issue with your arrange window... or rather it's settings...

Let's do an example..

You want to copy a series of three consecutive 16th notes (which start at the beginning of the bar), to the next bar....

So switch the pull down menu, in the arranger window, to 1 bar (This is the grid resolution.. not the quantitize setting)...

Select and copy the first bar...

Move the play/paste point to bar 2...

Paste...

Make sure that the padlock button is pushed in.. This locks notes to the grid..
