I'm pretty much stuck with a crappy Alesis microphone. It's very similar to a Sony SM58 in terms of sound but when I play back it has too much bass (or body for lack of a better term)
What EQ and compressor settings do you guys use in general for vocals?
I know when I listen to pro CD's, the vocal tracks sound very thin and compressed compared to mine. I guess obviously, that's the general way of doing it. I just can't seem to get rid of that boomy 'full tone' sound.
(btw: I know I need to buy a new mic but hey... car and house payments make that a major pain to achieve)
